Vanilla JavaScript API

Class-Based Components

All components are ES6 classes:

class Card {
  constructor(options) {
    this.element = null;
    this.options = options;
    this.render();
  }

  render() {
    // Create DOM elements
  }

  mount(parent) {
    parent.appendChild(this.element);
  }

  unmount() {
    this.element.remove();
  }

  destroy() {
    // Cleanup
  }
}

Creating Components

Instantiate components with options:

const card = new Card({
  variant: 'elevated',
  hoverable: true,
  clickable: false,
  className: 'custom-class',
  style: { marginTop: '1rem' }
});

Mounting Components

Mount components to the DOM:

const container = document.getElementById('app');
card.mount(container);

Event Handling

Pass event handlers in options:

const button = new Button({
  text: 'Click Me',
  onClick: (event) => {
    console.log('Button clicked!', event);
  },
  onFocus: (event) => {
    console.log('Button focused!', event);
  }
});

Updating Components

Update component properties:

card.update({
  variant: 'outlined',
  hoverable: false
});

Destroying Components

Clean up components:

card.unmount(); // Remove from DOM
card.destroy(); // Full cleanup

Usage Examples

Simple Button

import { Button } from '@primitivekit/vanilla';

const button = new Button({
  text: 'Click Me',
  variant: 'primary',
  size: 'medium',
  onClick: () => alert('Clicked!')
});

button.mount(document.body);

Card with Content

import { Card, Badge } from '@primitivekit/vanilla';

const badge = new Badge({
  text: 'New',
  variant: 'solid',
  color: 'primary'
});

const card = new Card({
  variant: 'elevated',
  children: [
    '<h2>Card Title</h2>',
    '<p>Card content goes here.</p>',
    badge
  ]
});

card.mount(document.getElementById('app'));

Form Example

import { Form, Input, Button } from '@primitivekit/vanilla';

const nameInput = new Input({
  placeholder: 'Enter your name',
  type: 'text'
});

const submitButton = new Button({
  text: 'Submit',
  type: 'submit'
});

const form = new Form({
  onSubmit: (event) => {
    event.preventDefault();
    console.log('Form submitted!');
  },
  children: [nameInput, submitButton]
});

form.mount(document.getElementById('app'));
